Why grass fed?
Healthier for you, the animal, and the environment
Q: Think your supermarket beef is healthy and safe?
A: Most of your supermarket beef is raised in industrial "feedlot" conditions that are neither healthy for the animal, nor for you as the consumer. Feedlots depend on a concentrated, unnatural diet to make their beef as large and fat as possible, using ingredients such as corn fillers, potatos, molasses, beet waste, even animal biproducts! Does that sound right? Worse, feedlots cram stressed animals into confined quarters filled with manure, mud and disease. These harsh conditions require an excessive use of antibiotics that creates drug-resistant bacteria. All of this ends up in the beef on your table. Its no wonder you hear so many news stories about E. coli related food illness and mass recalls these days. Feedlots make cheap, unhealthy beef with little nutrition and up to 500% excess saturated fat.
Our real grass fed beef is different because our methods are different. We raise 100% of our beef in open pastures in a humane, natural environment that includes plenty of sun, natural pasture grass and clean water. Healthy grass fed beef is low in fat and full of taste. We breed funny-looking Scottish Highlander cattle for most of our beef, prized for being naturally rich in Omega 3, beta-carotine and vitamin E. The result is good, lean, quality beef that is well-marbled and flavorful, ideal for braising and slow cooking to bring out flavor and tenderness. It is a process that takes more time for us, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
The secret to quality is in the pasture
It makes sense; the quality of your pasture grass determines the quality of your beef. We raise our beef on pasture we carefully manage ourselves, without pesticides and using a good grass mix developed through praticed experience.
The difference is...TASTE !
We can't describe it in words, you just have to try it. Real 100% grass fed beef is richer, tastes better and is full of nutrition that will make you feel better too. Our smaller quantity, higher quality methods produces some of the best tasting, quality beef you can find.
